I have the same question Report abuse. Details required :. Cancel Submit. DaveM Independent Advisor. Hi Fallfish Before you attempt to create bootable USB installation media, backup all files on that drive, because everything on that drive will be deleted, when it is formatted.

Some users get caught out and try to create a partition on that drive, that will not work, everything will be deleted in the process of creating that USB drive. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site.

In reply to DaveM's post on March 23, I found a way to back it up but how do you load the backup onto the usb again. I try googling it but dont find anything. Hi Fallfish Don't create a backup of that USB I probably used wrong wording , just copy any files that are on that USB drive to some other drive Then, you create the bootable installation media on the USB drive using the Media Creation tool When you have finished using that USB for installing Windows, format the drive to get rid of the installation files and then copy those old files back onto the USB drive.
